Rent Jet Skis, Boats & UTVs

Garden City has enough rental outfitters that the real question isn't whether you can rent a jet ski, boat, or UTV, it's which company fits how you want to spend the day. Options range from marina-based rentals where the watercraft is already in the water, to trailered rentals you tow to your own launch spot, to UTV rentals you drive straight from the shop into the surrounding trails.

What to expect

For watercraft, Epic Recreation's Adventure Center location at 584 W Logan Road is one of the more established names in town, offering boat and jet ski rentals along with UTVs, and running slightly longer summer hours than some competitors. Alongside them, Utah Boat Rentals and Bear Lake Rentals both operate out of Garden City with their own fleets of pontoons, ski boats, and Sea-Doos, and pricing and boat selection genuinely varies enough between them that it's worth a quick comparison if you have a specific boat size or budget in mind.

For UTVs specifically, most Garden City outfitters rent street-legal side-by-sides you can drive directly from their lot onto local roads and into the surrounding trail system, no trailer required. That's different from standard ATVs, which generally do need to be trailered to a trailhead.

Whichever company you choose, expect an ID and credit card hold, a safety briefing (and for some UTVs, a short driving check), and either a set time block (commonly 8 hours) or an hourly rate for shorter rentals.

Hours and pricing

Most rental shops run roughly 9am to 7pm in peak summer (June through August), with shorter or call-ahead hours in shoulder season. Pricing depends heavily on the equipment, a jet ski costs a fraction of a large pontoon or wakeboard boat, and UTV rates typically scale by seat count (2-seat vs. 4-seat vs. 6-seat). Booking a week or more ahead is worth it for July and August weekends, when the larger boats and UTVs are the first to sell out.

Location and parking

Rental shops are spread along Bear Lake Blvd and Logan Road through Garden City, with a concentration near the state park marina entrance. Each shop has its own small lot for pickup.

Local tips

If convenience matters most, a marina-based rental gets you on the water fastest since nothing needs to be trailered. If you'd rather avoid marina crowds, a company that lets you launch from a quieter beach might be worth the extra planning. For UTVs, ask specifically whether the rental is street-legal, that's what determines whether you can drive it straight from the shop or need to trailer it to a trailhead.

FAQs

  • What's the difference between a marina rental and a trailered rental? A marina rental has the boat or jet ski already in the water, ready to go, while a trailered rental means you tow the equipment to a launch point of your choosing.
  • Do I need a trailer to rent a UTV in Garden City? Not if it's street-legal, most local rentals let you drive street-legal UTVs directly from the shop onto nearby roads and trails.
  • How far ahead should I book a boat rental for Bear Lake? For July and August weekends, booking at least a week ahead is a good idea, especially for larger boats, which tend to sell out first.
